Handover at Lenz Moser – Rethaller follows Großauer
The year 2019 begins with a historic change in the wine industry. Ing. Michael Rethaller is now the new winery manager and chief winemaker of the Lenz Moser winery. The oenologist thus takes over the agendas of Ing. Ernest Großauer, who retires after 42 years with the company.
In the past years, Ing. Michael Rethaller has prepared extensively for his new job as winery manager. The winery itself is more than familiar to him. He joined Lenz Moser in 1992, initially working in the field of vinification and finally taking over the management of quality control. “Lenz Moser is one of the most renowned and innovative wine producers in Austria. It makes me proud to take this responsible position here, ”said Rethaller.

42 years of wine history
Ing. Ernest Großauer joined the Lenz Moser winery in 1976. In the years of his tenure, the Austrian wine scene underwent a big change. Großauer experienced and shaped oenological achievements such as biological acid degradation and wooden barrel maturation. Ernest Großauer and Ing. Michael Rethaller have already managed large projects in recent years, such as the construction of the 1000-bucket barrel and the introduction of the low-alcohol wine “Servus 5%”.
